A Relief

I thought between age and industry my interest in going to a theater had waned to a distressing degree, since deciding I was ready to return at the end of last year. But having looked at EVERY film available now, I have decided that it isn’t my fault. I loathe just about everything that’s out right now. Nothing speaks to me. A lot of it feels so premeditated in its profits-over-creativity approach, or a general sense of we've-given-up-on-trying, that disdain is starting to creep into my feelings about cinema.

Now, in a week, that thankfully shifts. KINDS OF KINDNESS, THE BIKERIDERS, THELMA on 6/21. MAXXXINE and MOTHER, COUCH on 7/5. LONGLEGS on 7/12. And DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE on 7/26. And I realize that last one falls precariously close to the aforementioned disdainful categories, but fun counts for a lot.

So…to be continued…
